It's the most important meal of the day and luckily Cayman is jam-packed with breakfast options. From fruit-laden, fluffy pancakes, elegant pastries and full English brekkies, we've narrowed it down to just a few of what we think are the best breakfasts on the island.

1. Fry-Up, The Waterfront

Arguably the best place to get breakfast in Cayman. With a lengthy menu with tons of options for vegetarians, the health-conscious, pastry-lovers and of course, fans of the notorious Waterfront cinnamon bun, this restaurant would silence even the harshest breakfast critics. Opt for the 'fry-up' for a hearty, wholesome and mouth-watering meal.

2. Banana and Coconut Granola Pancakes, Sunshine Grill

They may not look spectacular, but these award-winning pancakes are insanely delicious and possibly the best on island. Sit inside this breezy restaurant at Sunshine Suites or choose to devour these scrumptious pancakes outside by the pool.

3. Breakfast Buffet at Anchor + Den

Exotic fruits, delicate pastries, cereal and hot breakfasts are all available at the Anchor + Den's breakfast buffet at the Marriot Hotel, grab a plate and go or order A La Carte from an equally as appealing menu.

4. Vitamin Bomb Crepe, Cayman Creperie

Crêpes are always a good idea and if you're craving one of these delightful French pancakes, there's only one place on island you need to know about. The Cayman Crêperie at Bayshore Mall serves breakfast and lunch crêpes, sandwiches and salads, but if you want the best of the bunch, opt for the fruit-stuffed, deliciously sweet, Vitamin bomb.

5. Eggs Florentine, Treats

This hidden gem in the West Shore Plaza is a great breakfast spot. Serving local options like ackee + saltfish, full English breakfasts, coffees and pastries, Treats is a great place if you're not sure on what you fancy. If you're still stuck, a good choice is the eggs florentine.

6. Full English Breakfast, Craft

Is there nothing more delightful than being served breakfast in a steaming hot griddle? Craft Cayman hits the nail on the head when it comes to your morning meal. Choose from eggs, bacon, sausages and other sides and hand-pick the perfect breakfast in a trendy and welcoming setting on Seven Mile Beach.

7. 'Simply Breakfast', Cimboco

The ultimate breakfast bargain. Grab a full English for $5 at Cimboco in Marquee Plaza. Choose from omelettes, oatmeal, waffles and 'island style' breakfasts at this popular Caribbean fusion restaurant known for it's cheap and cheerful brekkies.

8. Beligian Waffle, Ritz Carlton

This is breakfast dining at its finest. Eat indoors or outside under the shade of the tall palm trees at Seven at the Ritz Carlton on West Bay Road. A hot buffet option is available, as well as A La Carte, it will set you back $17 but the Lemon & Ricotta Belgian Waffle with raspberry compote- it's to die for.

9. Sunshine Buckwheat Pancakes, Bread and Chocolate

These vegan 'sunshine' pancakes topped with fresh fruit, nuts and agave syrup, live up to their name. Well-presented and as delicious as they look, healthy(ish) eating never tasted so good.

10. Fruit + Granola Bowl, Icoa Fine Foods

Great for a grab-and-go breakfast, Icoa Fine Foods on West Bay Road offers a dine-in option but also delivers to your home or office. So, there's actually no excuse to skip breakfast, especially when it's this delicious.
