Eat, Stay, Do | Bahamas
/The most beautiful sight from space - according to astronaut, Scott Kelly - the Bahamas has blissful beaches, world-class diving, a sublime selection of restaurants, the largest casino in the Caribbean and bigger-than-big, mega-resorts that will blow your mind. We haven't even got to the pigs, sharks and glistening sandbars yet - There's no denying there's plenty to do in the Bahamas and here's a quick snapshot for you.
Eat
Flying Fish - Freeport
This pricey, elegant restaurant on Grand Bahama island is simply stunning. With a canal-front patio, modern and stylish decor and top-notch food on offer, you can't go wrong.
Sapodilla - Nassau
Social House Sushi Bar & Grill
A trendy, upscale restaurant in Nassau serving up delicious -and pricey- pan-asian dishes. Order from a large selection of sake or a pretty cocktail from the back-lit bar and chomp on some fantastic sashima rolls in a beautiful setting.
Tippy's - Eleuthera
Again, this restaurant will set you back a few dollars, but you get what you pay for. Fantastic, island-style food, a gorgeous view and attentive staff.
The Dunmore- Dunmore Town
Experience the "Cuisine of the Sun" from celebrity chef Cindy Huton at the Dunmore restaurant on Harbour Island. With exceptional Caribbean cuisine on the menu and an immaculate reputation among tourists and locals, the Dunmore is a cant-mis if you're in Dunmore Town.
Daddy Joes (Eleuthera)
You'll find great cheap Bahamian eats and live-music at this popular joint in Eleuthera. With Bahamian saying written on painted wooden plaques on the wall, Daddy' Joe's offers a lot of character, a real Caribbean feel and tasty grilled seafood dishes.
Hilltop Terrace (Harbour Island)
Top-quality Italian/ Caribbean food and brilliant sunset views. Sample the dry-aged steak, tuna tartar or a simple, well-presented and tasty pasta dish- you won't be disappointed.
Big Game Club Bar & Grill -Bimini
The perfect island-experience. Order the conch chowder to start and that will set the pace for the rest of your evening. Enjoy.
Shirley's - Great Exuma
The best local food in the Bahamas. in our opinion This brightly coloured fish-fry shack in George Town is a completely hidden gem. Shirley- the owner- admits she uses coconut milk and oil in her insanely delicious authentic Bahamian dishes. Try the coconut cream pie and you'll fall under Shirley's spell like us.
Stay
One&Only Ocean Club, Bahamas
A modern, elegant private-estate turned beachfront luxury resort. A high-class colonial-style manor with a price tag to suit. If you want the ultimate luxurious Bahamian experience, this is a good choice.
Graycliff Hotel & Restaurant
This oh-so posh and fancy hotel with guest 'chambers' and spacious, old-English style, regal cottage suites blends the old with the new. Join a star-studded guest-lis next to the likes of Winston Churchill and treat yourself at the Graycliff.
A laid-back Bahamas boutique hotel that claims a pelican found the hotel and attracted travellers from near and afar. Fisherman's tale or not, this reasonable priced roost is worth a peek at.
Atlantis
If you're not staying at Atlantis on Paradise Island you can get a day pass for $45 and explore the man-made ruins, the predator aquarium and the impressive stingray and turtle lagoons. Try your luck at the Caribbean's largest casino and grab a delicious seafood lunch at Bahamian-club restaurant.
