Caymanians know it, tourists know it, and more and more the rest of the world is starting the recognise that Seven Mile Beach is undeniably the best beach in the world. To those of us who live here, it's pretty obvious why this particular stretch of sand is leading the way when it comes to beaches.
1. It's clean
Some beaches are littered with red cups, rubbish and junk, but with a lot of beach-front properties on seven mile beach, this shoreline is well taken care of and is rarely ever unclean.
2.The clear waters
Cayman doesn't have rivers or agricultural run-off, so great visibility in the ocean for snorkeling is a huge plus for a day at the beach.
3. It's not overcrowded
Certain areas can be bustling with people, but sometimes you'll find yourself in awe of the emptiness of this beautiful coastline, something not very many countries can offer.
4. The laid-back vibe
Maybe it's something in the air, the soft sand or the surrounding friendly faces; when you step foot on Seven Mile Beach, you instantly feel relaxed and worry-free.
5. The length
Despite it's misleading name, the beach actually stretches for five miles. Regardless, such a long strip of beautiful beach sets Seven Mile apart from the rest.
6. The facilities
With a string of mega-resorts, bars and restaurants along the beach, you'll never be stuck for somewhere to grab a drink or something to eat at a cute little beach-bar or a world-class restaurant
7. Fun factor
Paddle-boarding, parasailing, jet-skiing, banana boating, if adventure is on your bucket-list, seven mile beach adequately caters to your type of traveller.
8. Easy access
There's multiple points along West Bay Road where you can get to Seven Mile Beach on foot. It's not too crowded at any access point and you'll find parking in various spots along the road.
9. You won't get hassled
Unlike some other beaches in the Caribbean, it's illegal to sell goods along seven mile beach. The lack of vendors flogging souvenirs in your face, makes for a relaxing and enjoyable time spent on the beach.
10. There's lots of shade
No need to bring a tent to this beach, you'll find private cabanas, sun-loungers and tiki huts along the shoreline, as well as plenty of palm trees, if you need a break from the sun.
11. The soft sand
Soft, powdery white sand is another upside of this famous beach. It's a small detail, but makes all the difference.
12. The sunsets
As if it wasn't pretty enough in the day, Seven Mile is still just as stunning at dusk, when the sun sets right into the ocean.
